Herbert (Herb) Jackson, Managing Principal
Herb is the Founder & Managing Principal of Renaissance Ventures, a special situations investor across multiple asset classes including buyouts and growth equity co-invest transactions with certain Private Equity Sponsors. He is a proprietary transaction origination specialist and experienced investor and advisor in numerous consumer, financial, industrial, and technology companies for over 25 years.

Herb originates proprietary buyout and growth equity opportunities for several middle-market and larger private equity Sponsors in the Consumer, Financial and Industrial Sectors on an ongoing basis. In addition to current originations at various process stages, Herb previously originated a proprietary growth-equity transaction with The Hilb Group for BHMS Investments; he helped facilitate CEO discussions leading to Albemarle Corporation's purchase of ChemFirst's bromine division; and he introduced Summa Four, Inc. to Cisco Systems' business development group, which led to Cisco's acquisition of Summa. Herb has led and worked on many financing and M&A engagements as principal and agent and performed extensive qualitative and financial analysis of public and private companies in prior roles. He previously delivered 11+ years market-beating performance for investment advisory private clients and co-managed a successful hedge fund.

Herb has served as a Board Director or Board Observer of a number of privately held, mid-Atlantic companies and previously has served on the Board of Directors of AdvanTech, a business incubator sponsored by the State of Virginia's Industrial Development Authority. Mr. Jackson earned his BS in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill.
